Hello June! A Mid Year Round-up from The VHSC

We can’t believe we are halfway through the year already; it seems to be flying by, with no chance of slowing down and we are now in peak season supplying around fourteen grooms a week with tweed suits for them and their parties for their big day.

Just a couple of weekends ago, we had our biggest one on record, a whopping 98 of our unique tweed suits worn in the UK and beyond! Here’s a round-up of how we’re getting on…

This year so far we’ve also met over 200 couples, and that’s one of the best bits about the job ; meeting new couples and helping them create the perfect look for their big day and, of course, the stamp of approval when they look in the mirror and think, heck yes, this is suit I want to get married in!

With a growing nationwide demand for our tweed suits, in February we opened our first concession at The Wedding Hub in Plymouth. The store is run by stationer extraordinaire Danielle Donnelly and also contains the first Rock The Frock concession, so it’s a real destination in the South West and creative wedding space to tick off three things in one go, from that ever growing ‘to do’ list!

Back to our flagship store in Bedford and things were starting to get a little crowded with over 1500 hire garments, ties, bow ties, shoes, boxes and four team members, so it was perfect timing when the old Peacocks Auction House just around the corner began leasing space. Tom has been working hard to transform the shell into our operations warehouse over the last two months, and all our hire stock has now moved over there giving plenty of space to get the orders ready each week, and our talented in-house seamstress Debbie has more space to alter your purchase suits to get them perfect for you.

We are big advocates of supporting Bedford businesses and for the second year running we will be sponsoring Bedpop’s Taste Bedford event held on 16th June at Mill Meadows 11am-5pm. Free entry, with over 16 street food vendors and live music, the shop will be closed from 11am so we can eat our body-weight in hog roast and sample Charles Wells beers!

We are pleased to also be the main sponsor for the Mr Vintage Competition at Twinwood Festival over the August bank holiday weekend, we hope to see lots of gentlemen donning our suits and accessories at the ultimate vintage music and dance festival.

Next month we start sprucing up the flagship store to separate the shop into a dedicated walk in retail space and provide an exclusive appointment lounge, think 1920’s speakeasy meets our unique style of VSHC décor… so make sure you follow us on Instagram to get some behind the scenes sneak previews.
