Suit Hire

Cost of hire – The cost of hire is £95.

Delivery – We deliver within the UK for a flat cost of £40. This includes the cost of pick up at the end of the hire.

Collection – Collection is available from our Bedford store only. The address is 24 Castle Lane, Bedford, MK40 3US.

Length of hire – Length of hire is 3 days, with Sunday not counting as a hire day (i.e. a weekend hire will run from Friday to Monday.) Additional days can be arranged and may carry an additional fee.

Method of Payment – Your order is secured by either payment in full, or by payment of a 25% deposit, with the balance to be payable 2 weeks prior to hire date.

Deposit Refunds – The 25% deposit can be fully refunded if a cancellation is made 6 weeks prior to the hire date. If you cancel between 2-6 weeks prior to hire date you will receive half the deposit back. For any cancellation closer to the date, you will not receive the deposit back.

Coverage of hire – You are hiring the 3-piece suit, hanger and storage bag, please return all items.

Hire Stock – All our hire stock is hired subject to availability. We will check availability prior to confirming your order. Sizes are only guaranteed available if they are known to The Vintage Suit Hire Company no later than 2 months prior to the wedding date, to ensure that we could order in additional sizes if needed to fulfil your booking.

Alterations – Please note that it is not possible to have any alterations to garments as you would expect if you are purchasing it. Please tell us when ordering whether you need a shorter leg length than the lengths we have available.

Lead time – we request that hire orders are placed no later than 2 months prior to hire date. If orders are required closer to the hire date, we may not be able to fulfil them.

Liability – The Vintage Suit Hire Company’s liability in any event is limited to the order value paid, and The Vintage Suit Hire Company are not liable for consequential damages.

Return condition – The Vintage Suit Hire Company hires goods on the understanding that The Customer will return them in an undamaged condition and The Customer will be responsible for, and indemnify The Vintage Suit Hire Company against, any loss or damage to the goods, at their current retail selling value, whilst they are on hire. You are obliged to return all items in an undamaged, unaltered condition. The Customer is the person who has made the order, and is responsible for all suits within that order.

Damaged items – If items are returned to us with damage, we will endeavour to make repairs where possible, however will recoup the cost to replace items which are not fit for rehire from the total damage deposit taken.

Security deposit – We will take a £100 deposit per suit, chargeable on a credit or debit card. We will refund this within a week of suit return where there has not been any damage to the suits.

Courier collection – The courier will be arranged to pick up the return parcel on the last day of the hire. The pick-up will be between 11am and 6pm. The suits must be boxed up and ready to hand over to the courier.

Extra days – Prearranged extra days will be chargeable at £10 per suit per day.

Late days – We organise a courier to pick up the hired items on the final day of the hire period. If the courier has arrived to pick up and cannot take receipt of all the items, we will need to request an additional pick up at extra cost to you, of £15 per suit per day. This will need to be paid within 7 days of the original agreed return date. There is no exception to this condition; if the hired suits are needed for the following week, we would need to cover the cost of expedited dry-cleaning or providing extra suits.

Sizing – We stock jackets and waistcoats in sizes 34″ to 52″ chest, and trousers in 28″ to 44″ waist. If you’re not sure which size is best for you, request a sizing chart from us. Please ensure that you and your whole party understand the Terms & Conditions of Hire, that these are good quality hire garments, and are not brand new. Nor should you expect a perfect fit, rather a good fit to the closest size available. For a perfect fit we have a made to measure service. Please understand that our hire relies on the last customer returning outfits on time and in a good condition.

Own Your Own

Cost – The cost of Own Your Own is £260. Payment is to be made in full on purchase, to fund material and labour costs.

Delivery  – Delivery to a UK address costs £10 per suit.

Lead Time – Where possible we hold stock of most popular sizes, but please allow 2 months from order date to delivery as suits are made to order when not in stock. It is understood that turnaround and dispatch of the orders placed with us may vary from time to time depending on current order volumes, work schedules, fabric availability of the order placed. We will try our best to comply with the average turnaround of between 8 and 10 weeks.

Own-Your-Own – Your Sizes – If you choose to buy your suit remotely, i.e. without any trip to the store, we will make suits to the sizes you select, and as a courtesy, contact you if we suspect that they are incorrect. But please note, provision of correct measurements is your responsibility.

Made to Measure

Made to Measure – Please note the our Made to Measure service is now discontinued. We have replaced this with an alterations service that can be used in conjunction with a standard sized suit purchase.

Returns – Every product is individually tailor-made and handmade according to the customer’s preferences. Furthermore, we cannot sell or use unwanted tailored suits. Hence, we DO NOT accept returns for any reason, except production error. In the case of a measurement error by us, we require pictures showing the measurements which are wrong (holding a measurement tape, showing the measurements). If your request for return is accepted, we will get in touch as soon as possible to organise a collection for alteration and if the garment cannot be altered, a refund.
